recent beauty loves

Hi Everyone! Welcome back to Beauty Thursdays!

This week I thought that I’d just fill you guys in on the things that I have been loving recently beauty-wise because I have mixed up my routine a bit lately.

The first big change is that I moved back towards liquid foundation! I have preached about powder foundation a lot in the past, and in the summer I still hold true to that, but the weather is starting to change. I felt that my skin needed a little bit more moisture and I knew which foundation would take that feeling away. I love the Rimmel Match Perfection light perfecting radiance foundation (shade 100 ivory). It is such a light liquid formula that it never feels too heavy and cakey on my face and it blends in so easily. It has a pump lid as well, which is always a bonus and I just find it incredibly easy to wear. It has a pretty good lasting power and also smells really good (always a good thing for anything going on your face) and it also has SPF 18, which I think is pretty decent for an inexpensive drugstore foundation. I feel that it gives you enough coverage while feeling like you’re not wearing anything on your face. Love this. Cannot rave enough.

The second thing that I have been reaching for a lot lately is some bronzer. I’m not the biggest bronzer fan normally, and it doesn’t make my face 9 times out of 10. This is partly because I’m not always one hundred percent sure I’m putting it on right, and I don’t want to look orangey or horribly contoured or something! But it is also because I live in a sunny country and I don’t always feel like it’s needed, so I tend to only use a bit when I look a little pale. Recently though I have been adding it in to my routine a little bit just to try and keep my little bit of a tan going as long as possible before winter fully kicks in here in South Africa. The bronzer I have been using is the L’Oreal Glam Bronze in 06, and I’ve been enjoying using it. It has a really nice bronze colour without being too orange and had the tiniest amount of shimmer just to add a little bit of summery warmth to your skin. Unexpected love found here!

The next thing that I have been loving recently you might have seen in last week’s Mini Drugstore Beauty Haul post, where I spoke about some things I picked up recently, and that is the Wet ‘n Wild Coverall Liquid Concealer (in shade light). I find it really difficult to find light shades of concealer here, and even harder to find liquid concealer – I don’t know if it’s a hot weather thing or if people just go for the more expensive brands, but I find it so difficult to find. The only other one that is easy to find is essence’s liquid concealer pens, but when I bought one a while ago it ran out so quickly that I didn’t bother to repurchase it. This shade is the lightest one that Wet ‘n Wild stock in my local store, and it on the verge of being too orangey for my skin – so I’m going to have to find another one for when winter hits, though I am loving it a lot at the moment.

The last thing that I have been loving lately is actually a make up accessory – and that is the Real Techniques Blush Brush. I don’t think that I’ve ever mentioned any of my make up brushes before, but you’ve probably heard of Real Techniques – created by the beautiful Sam and Nic of Pixiwoo (who I ‘met’ at Beauty Live at Covent Garden in November), these brushes are possibly the best, and still relatively affordable make up brushes out there. I own three and I wish I had bought more of them while I was in the UK because you can’t get them here! The Expert face Brush is my favourite overall, EVER, but lately I have been really really loving the Blush Brush. It is such a versatile brush and I love to use for powder and bronzer and blush! I feel that it doesn’t pick up too much powder so your face never ends up looking like you put a layer of flour on your face – and it is small enough that you can control where you are applying colour to your face – love LOVE. Also, if you haven’t checked out their new Bold Metals range yet, then please do yourself a favor and just look at them – serious brush porn right there. One day I will have the money to order the full set.

Sorry for the long paragraphs!

So, that’s what I’ve been loving in the beauty sector of my life lately! What have you been using lately? Have you changed up your normal routine at all?

Let me know in the comments!

xXx
