M Pâtisserie | Stellenbosch

 Stellenbosch is a tiny little student town, and hidden away in every street is another bakery, restaurant or bar that has something a little different to discover. I’m always looking for somewhere new to go to, and recently there has been one place in particular that I have been wanting to visit – a tiny little patisserie in a courtyard called M Pâtisserie.

(If you follow me on instagram you won’t be surprised to know that I did manage to stop by, since I posted a lot of photos of my morning there.)

This little bakery recently moved to its current location and I think that it is a perfect setting for such a cute little business. The main seating is a little covered courtyard, with a few seats and a kitchen inside. It is so stunning, and has a beautiful little selection of food. They do breakfasts, and a range of drinks (alcoholic and not) but their cake and pastry counter is where you should be heading straight away.

When I went with my mum on Tuesday, they had a special on a pastry and coffee combo for only R30, which we obviously took advantage of! We split an almond croissant and a pain aux raisin, which were really beautiful! And then, because we couldn’t not try it once we’d read the name – we shared a white chocolate and raspberry tart. This tart was incredible. It wasn’t too sweet or sickly, and the raspberries cut through the sweet chocolate – it was basically perfection.

It is the most beautiful place to sit, and even though you are practically in the centre of town, you feel like you’re in a very secluded spot. As you might have noticed I couldn’t stop taking photos, and I can’t wait to go back – also because I really want to try their high tea, which is only R120 per person.

If you’re in Stellenbosch and are looking for a little place to stop by and grab a coffee and something beautiful to eat, I would definitely give this one a try.
