Festival Season Is Here

How is it seriously the 9th of September already? This year has gone by way too fast.

In other news, it’s the 9th of September which means that Spring is here and so is Festival Season for South Africa. We are pretty lucky here that the weather never really gets bad enough for festivals to stop entirely, they just get less frequent. But now that the worst of the winter weather is over more festivals are popping up every day, with one scheduled for almost every weekend over the next few months – no complaints here though.

We kicked off the outdoor trance season with Sunflower Festival on the 28th and 29th of August, closely followed with Sprung this weekend just gone. Unfortunately, because of work and also not having money available for every ticket going I have had to limit myself to choosing a few of the best to attend.

The big one is almost here – the legendary Rocking The Daisies. The Western Cape’s biggest music festival is celebrating its 10th birthday this year, and I am finally able to attend it! RTD consistently manages to bring some the biggest names in music to South Africa for a weekend of crazy partying and mad festival vibes. This year we are going to be treated to music from the likes of Milky Chance, The Kooks, The Cat Empire as well as the local talents of Fokofpolisiekar, Jak Parow, Jeremy Loops, December Streets, Haezer,    The Rudimentals, AKING, Al Bairre, The Liminals, 7th Son, Grassy Spark, Vintage Culture, Monark and that doesn’t even touch the surface of much goodness our ears are going to be treated to in less than a months time.

If you’ve been here for a while you will know how much I love a festival, and it’s been a while since I’ve been to a big one (Reading Festival last year was insane), so I thought I’d keep you updated with loads of festival prep over the next month. Get ready for festival packing tips, essentials and DIYs in the next few weeks – festival season is upon us, and I am way too excited.
